Salo: 3 Days of American Idol

So, a while ago, when I decided to take the week off from work, while a certain someone was prepping to leave the nation for a little under a year, I... got bored. And then I ran across it - American Idol was coming to San Francisco on Tuesday, August 17th to hand out wristbands for their audition process on August 19th, which is today. Suffice it to say, had it made it through, I wouldn't be home right now to write this blog. But, this is the important thing - I had an absolute blast.

I met wonderful people - the likes of Sebastian and Megan, whom we decided was Kimya Dawson incarnate, Shawnee and her Ben Kingsley lookalike father, and a 19 year old kid who rocked Don't Stop Believin' as if it were the last thing he'd ever do.

None of us made it through, but even the briefest of friendships were forged and numbers were exchanged. It made the system so much more enjoyable.

A footnote, though located in the middle of a passage, American Idol producers and planners are tools and a half. What kind of multi million dollar franchise doesn't have the foresight to supply food and water to contestants enduring a near 20 hour day? I arrived at 3:30AM and left at around 2:30PM, and the crowd of contestants had only been half viewed. I imagine they're still there right now, seeing the last of the people as they try not to dose off or suffer from heat stroke (the park was a middling 80 degrees flat allllll day).

Elton John's This Train Don't Stop There Anymore, sang by a specific someone this morning to me in elegant French, didn't stop the show, persay, but the judge, after dismissing me, made it a point to stop me and tell me I had a beautiful voice. To be almost picked was kind of wicked, but at least the girl who got in over me deserved it. She has a beautiful voice and I'm sure she'll go incredibly far. Though, I'll be fucked if I can remember her name. >_>

Regardless of it all,

This should go to show that anyone can do anything. Even if you say to yourself "Man, I'll never do that. To Hell with that." etc., never ever say never. Ever.
